Striker pens a two-and-a-half year deal and could feature this weekend

Bolton Wanderers have completed the signing of striker Craig Davies for an undisclosed fee from Barnsley.

The 27-year-old Welsh international joins the club on a two-and-a-half year deal.

“Craig is a player I am really fond of,” Dougie Freedman said. “I actually tried to sign him a couple of years ago and he will bring all the right ingredients to our club.

“He is hungry. He hasn’t got the t-shirt of playing in the Premier League, but is desperate to get it. He’s a good age and represents very good value for the football club.

“He is the type of player I want around the place.”

During his time with the Oakwell club Davies netted a total of 20 goals in 64 competitive appearances, four of which came in a 5-0 away win over Birmingham City earlier this season.

The Burton upon Trent-born frontman moved to Barnsley in the summer of 2011 from Chesterfield, where he also enjoyed similarly prolific spell netting 25 goals in 45 games.

He was previously on the books of Manchester City as a youth team player and has also played for the likes of Oxford United, Wolves, Oldham and Brighton.

Davies could make his debut in this weekend’s game against Millwall at the Reebok Stadium.
