Wanderers’ stars Craig Dawson and Chris Eagles visited Devonshire Road Primary School after training last week

The pair visited after training last week to be interviewed by Year Six pupils as part of the P.A.S.S project they are currently studying under the supervision of Bolton Wanderers Community Trust.

As part of the P.A.S.S project the Year Six children have been researching player profiles and team statistics from last season’s victory over Blackburn Rovers at the Reebok Stadium before attending this season’s 1-0 win over Rovers which they are due to follow up with their match report.

To help them with their match report, Craig and Chris were interviewed by the pupils about their pre and post-match preparation as well as tactics for the game and goal hero Chris didn’t need asking twice to talk the class through his goal and his infamous celebration! All of the questions and answers were recorded for the children to put together for their in-school broadcast.

Talking after the visit to Devonshire Road, Chris said: “I always enjoy community visits like today’s as I think it is massively important for us to get out and about in the town and give something back to those who cheer us on every week. The class we visited at Devonshire were brilliant and really made us feel welcome – I think Craig and I have taken as much away from it as they have.”

Craig added: “Today’s Q&A session was one of the most impressive I’ve ever been to! The kids had really done their homework and were really well prepared – hopefully mine and Chris’ answers will help them in their studies.”

BWCT is delivering a Physical Activity Supplementing Studies (P.A.S.S) project at various primary schools across Bolton that targets KS2 pupils who are currently underachieving against the standardised attainment levels. The project looks to improve educational performance in numeracy and literacy by using the medium of sport to deliver both classroom and practical based in-school lessons.
