A BRACE from Jack Sampson and a header from Maison McGeechan gave ten man Wanderers an FA Youth Cup third round victory against Bournemouth.

On a freezing cold night at the Reebok Stadium, the game soon warmed up when big central defender Rhys Bennett was harshly dismissed for a professional foul.

With 70 minutes of the game remaining, Wanderers numerical disadvantage momentarily appeared a daunting prospect.

However, within minutes of the red card Wanderers found themselves a goal up thanks to the head of Sampson.

The tall frontman bulleted a header from the impressive McGeechan's left-sided cross to give Dan Thomas no chance.

The hosts dominated proceedings throughout with home goalkeeper Jay Lynch being largely a spectator.

Wanderers doubled their advantage ten minutes after the restart thanks to another header this time from the diminutive McGeechan.

The silky forward netted directly from Liam Irwin's corner to give the hosts the lead they deserved.

Sampson added his second and Wanderers' third late in the game with a smart drive following good work by substitute Joe Riley.

Bournemouth grabbed a scarcely deserved consolation right on 90 minutes through Daniel Ings.

Pete Farrell's men now have a home tie against Fulham to look forward to in the New Year.
