ALTHOUGH WOMEN'S football is currently the fastest growing sport, the game is still majorly underrepresented by women and girls from the BME communities, whether it be playing, coaching, refereeing or on a strategic side.
Bolton Wanderers are therefore playing their part by encouraging all women and girls in the Bolton area to get their boots on and show what they can do.
Abdul Basit, the Club's Community Cohesion Officer is hosting football coaching sessions, similar to those featured in the film 'Bend It Like Beckham'.
All communities are welcome to the sessions which are held at Leverhulme Park in Bolton on the following days:
Wednesdays 6.30pm - 8.00pm
Saturdays 10.30am - 12.00 noon
The aim of the project is to make a breakthrough in Bolton by bringing women together in order to play football, work as a team and most importantly keep fit.The sessions are open to all ages and of all footballing abilities.

The project is funded by the Lancashire FA and works closely with Kick It Out.
As a result of recent training sessions, the girls took part in a five a side tournament held during the kick it out week of action at the Bolton Arena where teams from all over the North West competed to win the trophy. The finalists were Uppermill FC and Bolton Indian Girls FC, where Uppermill came out winners after a twelve goal thriller, winning 8-4.
A presentation will be held in due course to congratulate those who were involved.
For more information about the sessions or how to become involved then please call Abdul on 01204 480 601.
A special thanks goes to the Lancashire FA for their assistance and continued support of this project.
