National Your Game Tournament

Bend it like Beckham Girls and Women's team, who are part of Bolton Wanderers Football Club's Unity and diversity project, have been involved recently in the National Your Game tournament 2008 held at the Salford Supporters Village.

The tournament brought together a diverse range of communities and groups from across Manchester and the North West.

On the day, various workshops were held including dance, DJ and rapping.

Representing Bolton Wanderers, the team reached the semi final of the tournament losing out Lamcok Ladies from Blackburn, who went on to win the competition,

Wanderers Community Cohesion Officer Abdul Basit, whose work for the Club's project has won numerous awards, said it had been a rewarding experience for everyone.

"It was a fantastic day, there was a lot to see and get involved with and the team did really well getting into the last four.Jayne Jackson scored one of the goals of the competition and the team can build on this and we are looking to run out winners in the future."
