As always in the international break, numerous members of the Bolton Wanderers playing squad have boarded planes for destinations far and wide.

No less than five of Gary Megson's players have been called-up to represent their countries in World Cup 2010 Qualifiers taking place all over the globe.

Wanderers new-boy Ebi Smolarek had a very brief stopover in England, staying only a couple of days in the North West to put pen to paper on his contract with Bolton and watch his team mates play West Bromwich Albion.

He was soon on a flight back to Poland to link-up with his international colleagues for their UEFA World Cup Qualifiers away to Malta and San Marino.



Gretar Steinsson found the net on his last outing for Iceland 12 days ago, and he'll surely be looking for a repeat in their two matches away to Norway next Saturday and at home to Scotland a week on Wednesday.

Jussi Jaaskelainen will be aiming for a shut-out against Germany when Finland play host to the Euro 2008 semi-finalists in Helsinki on September 10 while Tamir Cohen has travelled to Israel to prepare for his country's fixtures against Switzerland and Moldova.

Ricardo Gardner has made the journey back to his native Caribbean for a couple of CONCACAF Group Two Qualifiers as Jamaica entertain Mexico next Saturday before they travel to Honduras four days later.



In complete contrast, Fabrice Muamba will only have to make the brief jaunt down to London for England's U21 Championship Qualifier at Wembley on Friday evening.

Stuart Pearce's men face a tricky fixture against Portugal as they look to get their qualifying campaign up and running at the National Stadium.
