It may have been Jussi Jaaskelainen taking all the plaudits in the game against Hull City, but Gary Megson has saluted another duo for their commanding displays at the KC Stadium.

The combination of Gary Cahill and Andy O'Brien was again dependable and solid against Phil Brown's men as they helped play their part in Wanderers' second consecutive clean sheet.

The last two victories have followed the heart-breaking last minute defeat at home to Everton and Megson is delighted with the way his two defensive lynchpins have responded since that evening.

"The centre halves of Gary (Cahill) and Andy (O'Brien) did really well - they were terrific," Megson said.

"We made a mistake in the Everton game and we've done work on that since. It shouldn't have happened because you want your best headers in the more important areas and Gary on that occasion went walkabout.

"But very quickly he has picked up on that and his performances are getting better alongside Andy."
