Bolton Wanderers has announced that Jussi Jaaskelainen's testimonial on Saturday 8 August, 2009 will be played against Hibernian.
Managed by former Wanderers striker and Finnish compatriot Mixu Paatelainen, Hibernian will travel down to the Reebok Stadium from Edinburgh during the next pre-season to celebrate Jaaskelainen's 12 years of service to the football club.
Hibernian have won the Scottish top-flight title on four occasions since their formation in 1875 and were the first British club to participate in European competition back in the 1955/56 campaign.
Proceeds raised from the testimonial will be donated to local children's charities with more details, along with ticket information, to be announced in due course.
Speaking exclusively to the official website about the tribute game, Jaaskelainen said: "There are three more important fixtures remaining this season which the team and I are fully focused on achieving as many points from as possible.
"However, my testimonial is a day for the supporters and I am looking forward to the occasion immensely. I am extremely proud of what I have achieved at Bolton Wanderers and it has been tremendous to represent this club for as long as I have done.
"It is great that my fellow countryman Mixu Paatelainen will be bringing his team to Bolton and it will be a good curtain raiser for the new season."
Coincidently, Jaaskelainen made his competitive first team debut for Bolton Wanderers exactly 11 years earlier than the date his testimonial will be played, back on Saturday 8 August, 1998 in a 2-2 draw away at Crystal Palace.
The 34-year-old has since gone on to make a total of 425 appearances for the club since he joined from Finnish outfit VPS Vaasa in November 1997.
