Gary Cahill has been rewarded for his consistently high quality performances for Bolton Wanderers throughout the 2008/09 season with a first call-up to the England squad.

The central defender, who featured in 33 matches and scored three goals for Bolton last season, has been added to Fabio Capello's squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan on Saturday (June 6) and Andorra next Wednesday (June 10).

Cahill, along with club captain Kevin Davies, had twice previously been named in the provisional 'long squad' but narrowly missed out on an inclusion in the final party on both occasions.

The 23-year-old has travelled to the squad's training base to join up with the rest of his international colleagues.

Cahill is the first Bolton Wanderers player to be named in the full England squad since Michael Ricketts in 2002.

2009/2010 season tickets are now on sale at a fantastic value-for-money price, starting from £285 for adults and £49 for children. Click here for more information
