Gary Megson has reflected on Wanderers' first day of pre-season training.
The Wanderers manager and his coaching staff welcomed back the squad on Wednesday morning as they began their preparation in readiness for the big Barclays Premier League kick off against Sunderland at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday 15 August.
He said: "It's great to be back and everybody seems to have had a well deserved rest.
"It's been a good first day and I've been pleased with the players. The initial part of pre-season is just to get that base fitness right. After the first three days, we'll be working more with weights and circuits.
"We have brought in Sean Davis, and there is going to be a lot of work done on and off the training pitch in the next five weeks.
"I'd like to bring in a number of players to the football club. We used fewer players last season than anybody in the Premier League and finished just below mid-table, which deserves fantastic credit.
"We are looking for players that can improve us from that 13th position in the table. We are working from the list of players that we want and hopefully now we can do the negotiations.
"During pre-season, with the size of the Premier League, and the media interest in what every club does, you do tend to get judged on pre-season results. Really, all what pre-season is about, is preparation for the first day of the season."
