Paul Robinson has revealed that the chance to work with manager Gary Megson was an important factor in his decision to join Bolton Wanderers.

The 30-year-old moved from West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.

It is the second time that the Bolton boss has signed the defender, having taken him from Watford to the Hawthorns in 2003.

Speaking from the club's training camp in Austria, a delighted Robinson exclusively told the official Bolton Wanderers website: "I'm glad that everything is sorted out and I can enjoy the new challenge that lies in front of me.

"Obviously working with Gary before was a big plus and it wasn't a difficult decision to make. I know what he is like and how he can get the best out of me again as a player, so I had no hesitations in joining Bolton Wanderers.

"It is always nice when other football clubs show an interest in you and knowing the demands that Gary wants from his players, I believe that he will be able to drive me on."

It has been a frantic 72 hours for Robinson, who linked-up with his new team mates on Sunday evening.

He explained: "I got pulled out of West Brom's trip to Slovenia on Friday, drove up to Bolton for the medical on Saturday and then I flew out to meet all the players last night, so as you can tell it has been a pretty hectic few days!

"They seem a great bunch of lads and having played against many of them before, it makes joining a new club much easier. I'm looking forward to speaking to them all and getting to find out what they are like as people not just footballers."

The acquisition of the former U21 international adds extra competition for places in the Wanderers defence, especially for the left-back position which was occupied in every single Premier League match last season by Jlloyd Samuel.

Robinson added: "Competition is part and parcel in football and nothing is easy when you sign for a new club because you have to work hard for your place in the team.

"Jlloyd is a quality player and I look forward to that challenge. The Bolton fans know what they will get from me - I will give 100 percent commitment and hopefully help drive the team onto bigger things this coming season."
