Obadeyi: One Step At A Time

Posted on: Wed 22 Jul 2009
Tope Obadeyi admitted that he was satisfied with his evening's work after notching two goals during Wanderers 4-1 friendly victory over Leigh Genesis.

The former England U19 international caught the eye with an energetic performance against the Unibond Northern Premier League club, however he is refusing to get carried with his ambitions for the forthcoming season.

Instead Obadeyi is concentrating on each game as it comes and is aiming to take his opportunity in the first team should he be presented with it.

Speaking to Wanderers World, he said: "To be honest, I didn't expect to get two goals because I was just happy to get a run-out in the first game. I have been working hard in pre-season in Austria, done the work over there and I couldn't ask much more than to score a couple of goals.

"Everyone played well. We passed the ball about and there was good movement. Michael O'Halloran and Danny Ward did well up front and the two early goals helped us to settle.

"At the minute I am just taking it a step at a time. I want to get as many minutes of football as I can in pre-season and hopefully keep pushing on. I know there are a lot of great players in the first team and I have just got to be patient and wait for my chance."
