FC Eindhoven and Bolton Wanderers played out a 2-2 draw at the Jan Louwers Stadium in a contest that came to life in the last 25 minutes.
Wanderers had taken a 1-0 lead into half-time through a Kevin Davies penalty on 44 minutes, but were pegged back midway through the second half when Selmo Kurbegovic pounced inside the penalty area.
With 11 minutes to go, Tamir Cohen broke through the FC Eindhoven defence to put Bolton back into the lead, however Rob van Boekel earned his side a draw with just two minutes of the game remaining.
Cohen's night was to end in unsavoury fashion as he was sent-off in the last minute for a mistimed challenge on midfielder Bart Van Brakel.
Prior to kick-off tributes were paid to Sir Bobby Robson, who sadly passed away on Friday. A minute's silence was observed for the former manager of FC Eindhoven's city rivals, PSV.
When the match eventually commenced, ten minutes later than scheduled, Gary Megson's starting line-up showed nine changes from the midweek victory over Den Bosch. The only two players to retain their place was Jlloyd Samuel and Mark Davies as the manager shuffled his squad.
Riga's weak shot was comfortably claimed by Eindhoven goalkeeper Jurgen Hendriks as the game got off to a lively start. At the other end, nippy forward Prince Asubonteng had two pot shots on goal - one testing Bogdan, the other flying harmlessly wide.
Wanderers were caught offside six times within the first ten minutes as they pressed for an early advantage. Kevin Davies and Mark Davies both attempted chips following lapses in concentration in the home side's defence. The skipper's was easily saved by Hendriks while his namesake's floated onto the roof of the net.
A steady period of play followed in which possession was evenly shared by the two teams, but no clear cut goalscoring opportunities were created as the pace simmered.
It took until the 28th minute before FC Eindhoven almost had the home supporters on their feet. A cross from the right landed at the feet of van Boekel, but his shot was dragged wide of the far post past the dive of Bogdan.
An incident in the stands held up proceedings briefly in the latter stages of the first period, and when play resumed it took Wanderers a further ten minutes to take the lead.
Tamir Cohen wrong-footed Ruud van der Rijt inside the penalty area and was subsequently hacked down by the full-back. Wanderers captain Kevin Davies confidently converted the spot-kick to give Bolton the advantage right on the stroke of half-time.
One change was made at half-time with Jlloyd Samuel replaced at left-back by Paul Robinson.
The highlights of the opening quarter of an hour in the second half was Chris Basham's timely tackle on Mark Bloemendaal inside the penalty area and a dubious handball decision against Selmo Kurbegovic which halted his path to goal.
FC Eindhoven were proving to be decent opposition for the Whites and they came close to equalising through Rob van Boekel, whose powerful drive from 20 yards drew a top-class save from Adam Bogdan.
The levelling goal did come on 66 minutes and was scored by Kurbegovic. Following a neat move in midfield, the ball was played out to the right wing for Justin Tahapary. The full-back's low cross evaded the Bolton defence and Kurbegovic converted from 14 yards out.
The lead lasted just 13 minutes as Tamir Cohen restored Bolton's advantage. A long kick down field by Adam Bogdan was flicked on in the final third, and the Israeli midfielder nipped into to slot the ball coolly beyond Hendriks.
But with 88 minutes on the clock, FC Eindhoven forward Rob van Boekel grabbed a late equaliser, finishing low past Adam Bogdan following Mark Bloemendaal's headed knock-down.
The late action didn't end there as Tamir Cohen was shown a straight red card in injury time for a challenge Bart van Boekel.
A brief stay back in Bolton is next on Wanderers' agenda before they hit the road again on Tuesday, travelling up to Edinburgh for the first team's fourth pre-season contest against Heart of Midloathian.
