Hearts Preview

Posted on: Tue 04 Aug 2009

Wanderers' pre-season schedule moves north of the border on Tuesday evening when they face Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle.

After an unbeaten tour of Germany and Holland, where Gary Megson's side defeated Den Bosch and drew with Borussia Monchengladbach, the first team now moves into the penultimate match of pre-season.

In Hearts, Bolton face a side that finished third in the SPL last season and who are managed by Csaba Laszlo - a former Romanian international midfielder who took control of the Jambos in July 2008.

Formed in 1874, Hearts have won the Scottish top-flight four times with the last coming back in the 195/60 season. They have also claimed seven Scottish Cups and four Scottish League Cups.

There has been a close link between Bolton Wanderers and Hearts over the years dating back to 1886 when the Trotters were the first club to play in the opening match at Tynecastle, suffering a 4-1 defeat against their Scottish counterparts.

Hearts were also the first team to play Bolton Wanderers under floodlights at Burnden Park when they were installed back in 1957. Players who have represented both clubs over the years include Paul Richie, Steve Banks, Alan Johnston, Neil Berry and Wayne Foster.

Ricardo Gardner has rejoined the squad after being given extra time off following his involvements in the Gold Cup with Jamaica over the close-season. Kevin Davies hasn't travelled with the rest of his team mates, staying behind in the North West to be with his family following the arrival of their new baby son.

Bolton supporters travelling to the game will be seated in the Roseburn Stand, with tickets being available for purchase on the turnstiles. Prices are £12 for adults and £8 for over 65s and under 18s.
