Hibernian Preview

Posted on: Fri 07 Aug 2009

Wanderers go into their final warm-up game of the pre-season unbeaten as they step up their preparations for next Saturday's Barclays Premier League opener against Sunderland at the Reebok Stadium.

SPL outfit Hibernian travel down from Edinburgh to provide the opposition in a game that also doubles up as long-serving goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen's testimonial.

Wanderers, who drew 1-1 against Hibs' city rivals Hearts in midweek, will look to continue their fine pre-season form which has also seen them beat Den Bosch and draw against Borussia Dortmund and FC Eindhoven.

Gary Megson's new signings, Sean Davis, Paul Robinson, Sam Ricketts and Zat Knight are all poised to make their home debuts.

For Hibs, the game marks the end of a three-match spell against Lancashire opposition. The Scottish outfit ended up on the wrong side of a 3-1 scoreline against Preston North end at Easter Road, while they held Blackburn Rovers to a scoreless draw at Ewood Park in midweek.

Prior to the main event there is also the eagerly anticipated 'Legends' clash which will feature no less than 24 former Bolton Wanderers players, plus local boxing hero Amir Khan.
