Hull City v Bolton Wanderers,
Barclays Premier League,
Saturday 22 August, 2009,
KC Stadium, 3pm Kick-Off.

Bolton head across the M62 on Saturday afternoon for the first away fixture of the 2009/10 season against Phil Brown's Hull City.

In the Tigers, Wanderers face a side that has recruited five new players over the course of the summer. Seyi Olofinjana joined from Stoke City for £3m, Kamel Ghilas and Steven Mouyokolo signed from Celta Vigo and Boulogne respectively while Steven Hunt, who scored on his debut last weekend, moved from Reading. Hull also snapped up America striker Joze Altidore on a season-long from Villarreal, and he could be thrust into the Premier League spotlight after receiving international clearance.

One man who departed the KC Stadium in the close season was Sam Ricketts. The full-back could be set to line-up against his former team, only four weeks since he signed for Bolton. In total, the Welsh international enjoyed three seasons on Humberside, featuring in 129 matches for the Tigers.

Gary Megson will definitely be without Ricardo Gardner, who will be sidelined for up to three weeks with a hamstring problem. The winger suffered a similar injury in the latter stages of last season and was forced to miss the final five Premier League matches.

Gretar Steinsson missed last weekend's defeat to Sunderland through illness, but has now returned to training. Lee Chung-Yong could come into contention for a starting berth after an impressive debut from the substitutes' bench against the Black Cats.

Last season Bolton earned a 1-0 victory in the corresponding fixture thanks to a second half strike from Matt Taylor. However it was Jussi Jaaskelainen who earned all the post-match plaudits due to a phenomenal contribution in goal, making a series of vital saves which helped Wanderers record the three points.

While Wanderers were without a fixture in midweek, Hull were beaten 5-1 at home by Tottenham. The heavy defeat against Spurs followed a 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge last Saturday, and manager Phil Brown has now called for a response from his team saying that the game against the Trotters is effectively the start of their season.

Speaking to Hull City's official website, Brown said: "Tomorrow is a big game for us and Bolton represent tough, quality opposition who have been there and are a model for a lot of clubs."
