Gary Megson reflected on Wanderers' 2-1 defeat against Manchester United by taking heart from his players' second half display.

Matt Taylor's headed goal proved to be the catalyst for a stirring Bolton fightback after United went into the half-time interval two goals ahead.

Ivan Klasnic, Zat Knight and Gary Cahill came tantalisingly close to snatching what would have been a deserved point against the defending champions.

The manager said: "When you come here, you have to accept United will have the lion's share of possession and create most of the opportunities.

"We were a little bit weak in the first half and we had some decent possession, and at times we did play some nice attractive football.

"But in the second half we played a game that was much more like it. If we had played like that from minute one then we would have given ourselves a much better chance of upsetting the opposition.

"It was a good way to finish the game from ourselves. We were on the front foot, getting on all of the second balls and causing United one or two issues.

"We are a bit disappointed in as much as you would have expected us to start the game as we finished.

"We had great backing from the fans today and I understand we sold out our allocation. They really got behind the lads even when we were under the cosh."
