Chelsea v Bolton Wanderers,
Carling Cup Round Four,
Wednesday 28 October,
Stamford Bridge, 7.45pm Kick-Off.
Over 20 coaches will be departing the Reebok Stadium on Wednesday morning as Wanderers head to Stamford Bridge backed by a bumper set of supporters. 1,500 fans have taken advantage of the club's decision to put on free travel to the capital, where the Trotters will be looking to progress to the fifth round of the Carling Cup for the first time since the 2004/05 season.
Having seen off the advances of Tranmere Rovers and West Ham United in the two previous stages, Chelsea are the opponents in what manager Gary Megson has described as a 'tough' draw.
With this being Wanderers second fixture in a run of three in six days, the Bolton manager could be tempted to make a number of changes to his team. But with full strength sides selected both at Prenton Park and at home to the Hammers, it remains to be seen what his thoughts are regarding team selection.
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has already outlined his intention of shuffling his pack, with Daniel Sturridge set to be handed his full debut. Speaking to the Blues' official website, he said: "It is the moment for Sturridge to play and I hope that he will do his best on the pitch.
"We have trust in his quality. He didn't have the possibility in the last month to play but tomorrow I would like to see him at his best.
"I have a lot of players who didn't play a lot of time in the previous games like Sturridge, like Paulo Ferreira, like Joe Cole, like Juliano Belletti, like Alex and I want to use these players to improve their condition. This isn't specifically a competition for young players."
Players that will definitely be missing for Chelsea include the injured Jose Bosingwa, Ashley Cole, Yury Zhirkov, John Obi Mikel and Sam Hutchinson. It has also been reported that Nicolas Anelka, John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho and Petr Cech are set to be rested.
On Tuesday evening, Blackburn Rovers, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth and Aston Villa booked their place in the quarter-final draw. The other two ties to be played are Arsenal v Liverpool and ManchesterCity v Scunthorpe United.
