Coyle Pleased With January Additions
Owen Coyle has been speaking about his loan signings in the January transfer window.
Monday passed without any further incomings at the club as Wanderers managed to complete their business ahead of a frenetic deadline day.
The Manager was understandably delighted with his three new arrivals, which he believes will add further competition to his squad over a busy second-half of the season.
"We have signed the players to help the ones that we have got already," said Coyle.
"We've obviously brought in Stuart (Holden) along with Vladimir (Weiss) and Jack (Wilshere) on loan from Manchester City and Arsenal, and they are young players with big futures ahead of them.
"Stuart is a talented player who has an incentive of wanting to play at the World Cup and when he is fully fit, he will have the opportunity to show what he is capable of.
"Jack burst on the scene as a 16-year-old and everybody knows the ability and potential that he has. Jack needs to show that on a weekly basis in the Premier League and it was disappointing that I couldn't get him involved on Saturday because that had been my intention in the second-half. But the way that the game went, I had to throw a striker on to try and get ourselves back in the game.
"I managed to get Vladimir on, but it would have been unfair to throw both in from the start because the other players had done so well over recent weeks and deserved their places in the team. It will be a gradual involvement and when they get that chance they have to make sure that they keep the jersey."
Two players departed on loan on the final day of business with Tope Obadeyi moving to Rochdale and Mark Connolly linking up with Scottish Premier League side St Johnstone.
"I'm a great believer in young players getting league experience, similar to Vladimir and Jack," added the Manager.
"I watched the game between Rochdale and Bury last night and Tope did very well, and Mark has gone to St Johnstone, a club that I know well, where he will have the opportunity to play against teams like Celtic and Rangers.
"They will come back to the club as better players, ready to challenge for first-team places."
With Ivan Klasnic set to spend a month on the sidelines through a calf injury, the manager has called for other players to step up and stake their claim for a starting berth, including fellow striker Johan Elmander, who has impressed when being introduced from the substitutes' bench in recent weeks.
Coyle explained: "Ivan is a few weeks away, but because he has such a positive nature then he will want to be involved before then. Time will tell, but what we don't want to do is rush him back and then we lose him for a longer period. He needs to be fully fit - not even 90 percent - because we have got a lot of big games coming up.
"There's a big opportunity for Johan, but he has had that since I came to the club. He has done well for me in the time that he has played and I have got not doubts that when he plays next, whether it is this Saturday or not, that he will wear the jersey with pride and show his quality."
