Coyle On Fulham

Posted on: Thu 04 Feb 2010

Wanderers are back on home soil this weekend, looking to make it three successive victories at the Reebok Stadium.

Fulham are the visitors and they come into the game themselves on the back of a midweek win over Portsmouth as they ended a five-match losing streak in the Barclays Premier League.

Manager Owen Coyle spoke to the local and national media on Thursday morning ahead of the game as he sets about the task of readying his squad for the visit of Roy Hodgson's team.

Owen, has no midweek fixture been welcome considering the recent run of games?
We have been able to get out on the training ground, and given the amount of games we have had, we have also been able to give the lads a little bit of a rest to make sure that they have the freshness for Fulham on Saturday.

It's been important that we have taken everything into account with the sessions because as I have said before, it's crucial that our player perform to their maximum in each and every game.

Since you have taken over, we have put in three strong performances at the Reebok which must be pleasing?
We've shown that when we are at our maximum that we can win games. The fans have been brilliant - they have been behind the team and have been so important.

If we can replicate those performances, particularly the one against Arsenal, then that will serve us well. That afternoon was disappointing because we deserved something from the game.

We are a team that can create chances and what we have to do is make sure that we are stopping goals at one end and scoring them at the other.

We want to build on that home reputation and show teams that when they come to the Reebok that they are going to be in for a right tough game.

What have you made to Fulham this season?
Fulham are a very good side with a top-class manager. They have some terrific individual players in their ranks, with Bobby Zamora for one.

They had a great win against Portsmouth which took them into the top-half of the league and they will be boosted by that. So we have to be very respectful of that but concentrate on our strengths and what we can bring to the game.

Is Ivan Klasnic set to miss out again through injury?
He will probably miss another couple of weeks but having spoken to him, he is determined to get back as soon as possible, which is an attitude that I like.

Whether it's an opportunity for one or two others then time will tell, and if they get that then they have to make sure that they perform.
