Sean Davis says there is light at the end of the tunnel following his injury-disrupted start at the club.

Davis's last game for the Whites came in August against Liverpool and ever since he has been working towards making a comeback after undergoing surgery to repair his damaged articular cartilage.

"I'm off the crutches and onto the bike now because it has been about four months since I had my operation. Hopefully I will be running some time in March, so you never know," said Davis.

"But there isn't any rush to get myself back fit because if I set certain targets on when I want to get back playing and then don't achieve them then I will be disappointed.

"I'm on schedule and the knee is pain-free, which is obviously pleasing, and now it is all about working hard in the gym, getting the leg muscles strong and continuing my rehab with Nick and Mel the physiotherapists.

"I know that the next month is going to be difficult. I'll want to kick-on and the physios will have to keep me on a leash to make sure that I go about things the right way."

Davis hasn't been the only player on the treatment table with Joey O'Brien and Ricardo Vaz Te also working on a return to fitness following serious injuries.

The trio have supported each other on the comeback trail and that has proved invaluable according to the Clapham-born man, who has tried to undertake his rehabilitation programme in best possible frame of mind.

He added: "There have been a few of us who have been out with similar injuries. Vaz is back training now but I've been working alongside Joey too and we've all stuck together because we know that we are in the same boat.

"Although you never like to see players injured, it is good when you have got someone in the gym alongside you because it helps to keep your spirits up when you have bad days, although I don't really have many of them!

"I have tried to keep a smile on my face, and that has been the way that I have had to look at things. There is no point getting down in the dumps because other people can be effected by that, so I've been having a laugh and joke and sharing in all the banter with the rest of the players and staff."
