Owen Coyle was delighted that he could give the supporters a winning end to the season as a thank-you for their backing in his first four months in command at the club.
The Bolton boss believes that Wanderers fully deserved their victory over high-flying Birmingham as they completed the double over the Midlands club.
"We knew it was going to be a tough game between two teams that were going all out to win, so I'm delighted to have come away with the points," said Coyle.
"I thought our performance was terrific and we created some good attacking play against a good Birmingham side. It was an excellent goal from the skipper to open the scoring and Klas (Klasnic) showed what a talent he is with our second.
"At 2-0 we were very comfortable and could have scored even more, so there's no argument that we were deserving of the win. It's pleasing for us and for the fans who have given us their backing and their full support for which I thank them again.
"We wanted to show them what we want to do with the club and the style we want to play by putting in a strong performance today and, I have to say, they responded themselves with their backing and getting behind the team
"Short term we have achieved our aim - what we have to do now is to put our stamp on the club and the aim has to be to see the club improve year by year in what is in my opinion is the best league in the world."
