Nicky Hunt has ended his association with Bolton Wanderers after joining Bristol City.

The 26-year-old right-back, who progressed through the Whites' academy, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Championship side.

Hunt becomes Steve Coppell's second signing since the former Crystal Palace and Reading boss took over at Ashton Gate, following midfielder Khalifa Cisse to the club.

In total, Hunt made 161 appearances for Bolton with his last outing coming back in March 2008 against Arsenal at the Reebok Stadium.

The form of Gretar Steinsson and Sam Ricketts had restricted his involvement and, as a result, the defender spent time on loan with Birmingham City and Derby County over the course of the last two seasons.

Wanderers Manager Owen Coyle said: "Nicky is a terrific lad but obviously his opportunities have been limited here. We wish him well at Bristol City."
