SEASON TICKET HOLDERS EARN EXTRA TEAMCARD POINTS FROM NEW INITIATIVE

Posted on: Wed 17 Nov 2004
Bolton Wanderers season ticket holders, who are unable to attend selected Premiership matches, are set to benefit from an innovative new service thanks to the Club's pioneering TeamCard  smartcard technology.

Scotcomms, the company who successfully introduced smartcard technology to the sporting world through their venture with Bolton Wanderers two years ago, has taken its investment in the Club to the next level.

For certain pre-determined Premiership matches at the Reebok Stadium, season ticket holders will be rewarded with 500 TeamCard points - which equates to £5.00 of football cash - if they relinquish their seat for that specific game.

Having redeemed a seat for TeamCard points, the season ticket holder's card will be temporarily disabled for the game in question.

For instance, if a family of four cannot attend the Manchester United match on Saturday, 22 February they can 'sell' their seats back to the Club and receive 2,000 TeamCard points, which equates to £20.00 of football cash.

Commenting on this brand new initiative, Gareth Moores, the Commercial Director of Bolton Wanderers Football Club, said: "We will be offering this service to season ticket holders for matches where we anticipate demand to be exceedingly high. We recognise that despite being a season ticket holder, there will a number of occasions throughout the season when, for a variety of reasons, supporters will be unable to attend the match.

"This new scheme will present an opportunity for the season ticket holder to receive some value in return, whilst allowing the Club to re-sell the seat and ensure maximum occupancy for high-demand games."

Randal McLister of Scotcomms added: "We have been working very closely with Bolton Wanderers for over a year to make this initiative possible. It is a further demonstration of both the Club and TeamCard's leadership in the application of smartcard technology within football."

Wanderers will trial the scheme for the Manchester United match on Saturday, 22 February.

Season ticket holders, who cannot attend the game, can relinquish their seats from Monday, 3 February by attending the Ticket and Membership Office or by calling the Ticket and Membership Office hotline:0871 871 2932. Supporters will have a fortnight to redeem their seats. The closing date is Saturday, 15 February. The service will not be available after that date.

Those who have redeemed their seats will be issued with a letter confirming the award of 500 TeamCard points per seat redeemed.

The letter can then be presented at the Club Superstore or the Ticket and Membership Office at any time after the fixture where the points will be added to their card.

Should this new initiative prove successful, Bolton Wanderers will offer the seat redemption service for selected high demand matches during each Premier League season.
