Wanderers' Hungarian goalkeeper enjoyed a season of development in the 2008/09 campaign, making over 15 appearances for the club's reserve team and playing a vital part in the run to the Manchester Senior Cup Final. Indeed, he excelled in the showpiece match itself, making a number of world class saves against a side that included Danny Welbeck, Federico Macheda and Zoran Tosic.
Bogdan also deputised on the substitutes' bench when Ali Al-Habsi was away at the Gulf Cup in January 2009 and was ready to be called upon for the Barclays Premier League fixtures against Arsenal and Manchester United, plus the FA Cup Third Round clash away at Sunderland.
At the turn of the year, the 21-year-old also committed his long-term future to Bolton Wanderers, signing an extended deal which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2011. Speaking at the time, he revealed that the idea of continuing to learn his trade alongside other internationally acclaimed goalkeepers was another key factor in his decision.
He said: "I've progressed since I've been at the club, but I have to keep working in this way and be patient because this club has two great goalkeepers in Jussi (Jaaskelainen) and Ali (Al Habsi)."
