Although opportunities have been limited at club level for the former Watford and QPR defender, Shittu has performed on the international stage where he helped Nigeria reach the semi-finals of the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations.
The defender featured at this summer's World Cup, where the Super Eagles will competed in Group B alongside South Korea, Greece and Argentina.
Danny Shittu joined Wanderers in the summer of 2008 after putting pen-to-paper on a three-year deal.
The powerful defender had spent the previous two seasons with Watford, for whom he made 75 appearances and scored an impressive 11 goals.
Prior to that, the 6ft 3in centre back, who was born in Lagos in Nigeria, was at QPR for five years, clocking up more than 180 games.
A whole-hearted performer who never gives less than a hundred per cent, Shittu's desire to fight for the Wanderers' cause is unquestioned.
