The 27-year-old had to wait the best part of 36 Premier League matches to notch his second strike of the season which came in the form of a 25-yard screamer against Hull City just over a week ago.

A popular character both on and off the field, Steinsson has made the right-back spot his own and has fully justified the £3.5m price tag that he commanded when the club recruited him Dutch side AZ Alkmar.

His presence in Wanderers' squad continues the club's recent Icelandic tradition, following on from Eidur Gudjohnsen, Gudni Bergsson and Arnar Gunnlaugsson.
