Wanderers swooped to make their first player acquisition of the 2009 January transfer window by landing Sebastien Puygrenier.
The 26-year-old defender joined on-loan until the end of the season from the 2008 UEFA Cup winners Zenit St Petersburg.
The tall Frenchman has a background in his native homeland where he learnt his trade with Stade Rennais and AS Nancy prior to his move to the Russian giants last summer.
Puygrenier has made 15 appearances for Zenit since signing for the club and he also played a part in their 2-1 UEFA Super Cup victory over Manchester United in August.
Puygrenier instantly adhered himself to the Wanderers supporters when he netted on his full home debut, heading home a Mark Davies free-kick to set Bolton on their way to a 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
