Vladimir Weiss was another of the trio of signings made by Owen Coyle in January as he joined on loan from Manchester City.
The 21-year- old's involvement over the last four months has come mainly via the substitutes' bench, but it was his appearance in the second-half against Stoke City which earned his first Premier League start against Portsmouth the following Saturday, at the end of April. And he rewarded his manager by embarking on a blistering run to help set up Kevin Davies with the club's second goal of the game.
Weiss is a full Slovakian international and was named in his father's 23-man squad for the World Cup in South Africa.
Weiss, coincidently, made his Premier League debut against Bolton in the final game of the 2008/09 campaign, coming on as a substitute.
He has since gone on to make a total of five appearances for the Eastlands-based club, scoring one goal against Arsenal in the Carling Cup earlier this season.
Having come through the Manchester City youth academy, he became manager Owen Coyle's first signing as Manager.
Weiss has international honours having played for the Slovakia national team on six occasions, and he is set to feature in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
