Wanderers' three-match winning streak in the Barclays Premier Reserve League North came to an end as Everton pinched the points at Leyland.

The hosts dominated virtually throughout and bombarded the Everton goal in the second half.

But they were unable to beat inspired Toffees goalkeeper Adam Davies and were stunned when the visitors scored from a rare attack 20 minutes from the end.

Everton substitute Cody Arnoux found space on the left-hand side of the penalty area and when he crossed to the far post, striker Kieran Agard stroked the ball in from close range.

It was a bitter blow for Bolton, who continued their recent fine form but were unable to find the killer touch in front of goal.

Danny Ward missed the best opening of the first half when he was unable to convert a superb pass from impressive midfielder Aaron Mooy.

Everton had chances of their own before the break with James Wallace heading over from a corner and Agard forcing Adam Bogdan to make a fine save.

But it was one-way traffic following the re-start as the home side peppered the visitors' goal.

The lively Riga was the first to be denied when his volley was well saved by Davies and the former England under-16 international then made a better stop to push a Ricardo Vaz Te header onto the post from a Riga corner.

Another Riga corner saw substitute Zoltan Harsanyi have an effort blocked on the line just after Everton had gone ahead and then when Stuart McDonald hammered in a shot Davies again beat the ball away.

Top-scorer Ward was the next to go close with a towering header from a Vaz Te cross bringing another fine save out of Davies.

And with Bolton throwing everyone forward in the dying minutes the young keeper had time for one last match-winning save from Nicky Hunt.

The full-back capped a tidy performance by timing his forward run to perfection to meet a neat pass from Vaz Te but again Davies stood firm as he saved at his near post to cruelly condemn Bolton to their third defeat of the campaign.
