A STUNNING strike from Adam Blakeman was not enough to see Wanderers Reserves pick up a victory against their Lancashire neighbours Burnley at Leyland.

The midfielder put the hosts a goal up after 11 minutes with a breathtaking left-footed volley from 30 yards after connecting with an attempted clearance from Clarets' defender David Edgar.

In a half of few chances, Adam Bogdan made several smart saves to preserve his side's advantage.

However, the Hungarian was powerless to prevent the Clarets from equalising on 70 minutes when Chris Stokes was harshly adjudged to have handled Christopher Anderson's effort. Steven Thompson gave Bogdan no chance from the spot with an emphatic finish.

Michael O'Halloran spurned a gilt-edged chance to restore Wanderers' lead before substitute Zoltan Harsanyi going close after a mazy run down the left.

But substitute Joseph McKee had the last laugh when he prodded the ball past Bogdan in a crowded penalty area after a goalmouth scramble to seal the points for the visitors.
