Reserves: Manchester City 2 Bolton 0
Just 24 hours after Wanderers first team went down 2-0 at Manchester City, the reserves were on the end of a similar scoreline at Ewen Fields.
A young second string fell to defeat in the Barclays Premier League Reserve North through goals from Alex Nimley and Abdisalam Ibrahim in each half.
Australian midfielder Aaron Mooy and winger Michael O'Halloran tested goalkeeper Giraldo in the first 45 minutes, but City took the lead shortly before half-time when Nimley found the bottom corner of the goal with a shot from the edge of the area after seizing on Chris Stokes' back-pass.
Wanderers held their own against a defence that contained first team regulars Nedum Onuoha and Dedryck Boyata, however Ibrahim's long-range effort 18 minutes from time sealed the win for the home side.
Bolton's next outing in the reserve league is next Monday when Hull City make the journey over the M62. Wanderers are looking to complete a double over the Tigers following the 2-1 success in the corresponding fixture back in October.
