MAINTAINING TOP-LFIGHT status and being involved in such competitions as the League Cup, the FA Cup and the UEFA Cup has helped Bolton Wanderers to bring success on the field and improved financial performance off it.
Whilst the Football Club is, and always will be the core activity, we must not lose sight of the harsh realities of business. Improved financial performance is absolutely necessary to sustain top flight football and a balanced approach will remain the cornerstone of our strategy.
Football as an industry, and the FA Premier League in particular, continues to face a number of issues that will affect all Clubs in the future. Bolton Wanderers must, therefore, play a part in establishing the longer term strategies for Football as well as for the Club itself.
Our business strategy has always emphasised the need for us to manage both football and non-football related income streams in order to spread our business risks as far as possible. More recently there has been particular growth in commercial revenues and the development of new, non-football business areas such as fledgling 'Events' business. We will continue to identify new opportunities as we seek to maximise the use of our extensive facilities at the Reebok Stadium.
The De Vere Whites Hotel, which is built into the South stand of the stadium, and the Football Club businesses work closely together to maximise opportunities and we are confident that this will continue bringing benefits in the future.
Bolton Wanderers' main priority remains to be the domestic competition of the FA Premier League, and the foundations laid over the past few years must now be used to build a secure future.
