Josh Vela has emerged as a promising prospect at Wanderers and signed professional terms with the club in March 2011.

Although regularly associated as a centre-midfielder, he can also play on either flank or just behind the strikers.

He got his first taste of playing at the Reebok Stadium in the FA Youth Cup third round clash against Crewe Alexandra in November 2010 and has been a mainstay in the reserve team in the time since.

In 2011/12 he spent three months on the sidelines after fracturing his foot in the second string's game with Blackburn in November 2011.

After returning to fitness, he was rewarded with a new three-and-a-half year contract in February 2012 which will run until the summer of 2015.

Vela listed one of his long-term ambitions as progressing through to the Bolton Wanderers first-team, and he realised this dream in April 2012 when he came off the bench in the 1-1 draw at home to Swansea City.

Two more substitute appearances followed, against Sunderland and Tottenham at the back end of the 2011/12 campaign.
