Wanderers signed Lawrie Wilson on a free transfer in August 2015 after he impressed on trial with the club.

The versatile defender joined the club on a two-year contract after featuring in all five of the Whites’ pre-season fixtures on English soil before being handed his competitive debut on the opening day of the season against Derby County.

Having finished the 2014/15 on loan at Rotherham United from Charlton Athletic, he was previously on the books at Colchester United and Stevenage, securing back-to-back promotions from the Conference to League One with the latter in 2010 and 2011.

Starting last season as first choice for the Whites, he enjoyed a brief loan spell with Peterborough United in January 2016.

Returning to the Bolton starting XI against Ipswich Town, the defender marked the occasion with his first Trotters goal - finding the back of the net with a thunderous 25-yard volley.

Registering 13 appearances in 2015/16, Wilson started both of Wanderers' opening two games under Phil Parkinson against Sheffield United and Blackpool respectively.
