Tom Thorpe became Bolton Wanderers' final signing on transfer deadline day in August 2016, with the deal being announced shortly after the 11pm deadline.

The versatile defender made the move to Macron Stadium from Rotherham United, reuniting with Phil Parkinson in the process having spent time on loan at Bradford City last season.

Starting his career with Manchester United, the former England Under-21s international made his senior debut during a loan spell with Birmingham City during the second half of the 2013/14 season.

Handed his Premier League debut by the Red Devils the following September following his return to Old Trafford, the 23-year-old joined Rotherham United last summer.

Finishing the 2015/16 season on loan at Bradford City, he made four appearances for the Bantams as they reached the Sky Bet League One play-off semi-finals.

He was also a member of England Under-17s side that won the 2010 UEFA European Championships, while he also captained the Three Lions Under-19s in the 2012 UEFA European Championships.

Thorpe was handed his Wanderers debut as a late substitute against MK Dons in September 2016.
