GPS System

The Bolton Wanderers Development Association have always supported technology to keep us at the forefront of Sports Science and wearable technology has been the biggest advancement in sport monitoring in recent years.

The GPS (Global Positioning System) is used by all Premier League clubs, 18 Championship Clubs and a number of League 1 clubs and is used by Sports Scientists to monitor the players in great detail. The system is strapped to players during training and their performance and physical output can be tracked using the specialised computer software. This then enables better planning and preparation for training sessions making them more effective and efficient. The aim is to increase individual productivity and ultimately improve match performance.

Bolton Wanderers have used this system in the past but due to its age it had become obsolete so the BWDA have stepped in with lottery cash and purchased a new system which is now in use.
