Afobe Confident More Goals Will Follow

Benik Afobe says that he has thoroughly enjoyed his first week with Wanderers

Striker Benik Afobe is confident that his goals at Tranmere are the first of many in a Bolton Wanderers shirt.

The on-loan frontman bagged himself a 30-minute hat-trick at Prenton Park on Tuesday in only his second game since joining for the season from Arsenal.

Afobe is set to get his first taste of action at the Reebok Stadium on Friday evening when Wanderers host Barcelona B.

“Obviously, scoring a hat-trick on my second appearance is an amazing feeling and I was happy to get my first goals for the club,” the 19-year-old said.

“I have only trained with the lads once and that was on Monday, but it has been really easy to get to know them all and mix in.

“There is good banter throughout the squad and they play good football. As I have said before, they are all Premiership players and so it has been really easy to come in and play with all of them.

“I have managed to hit the ground running. Part of what pre-season is about, as a striker, is proving what you can do and gaining as much confidence as possible.

“Hopefully I can take that on into the season, beginning at Burnley.”

Don’t forget – cash turnstiles will be available at the Reebok on Friday evening for the Barcelona B friendly. Adults £10 and concessions £5.
