Martin Petrov's penalty sees Wanderers register a draw against Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road
Bolton registered their third pre-season draw in four games, this time being held 1-1 by Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road.
Having recently returned from a two-week training camp in Scotland, Owen Coyle's charges initially fell behind midway through the first half.
Though in front of a strong travelling contingent, the impressive Martin Petrov levelled from the penalty spot on the half hour mark after a handball decision went in Wanderers' favour.
David Ngog, Chris Eagles, Matt Mills and Tim Ream all missed out through injury, whilst Olympian Marvin Sordell was also absent.
Bolton made a more than decent start to proceedings, stroking the ball around well in the midfield areas with Andrews and Mark Davies combining well early on.
A couple of half-chances fell Wanderers' way inside the opening ten minutes.
Petrov fed Marcos Alonso, before the Spaniard cut in from the left and fired wide whilst Mark Davies failed to make sufficient contact with an effort from the edge of the area.
But, arguably against the run of play, it was the hosts who drew first blood.
The imposing Mathias Pogba smuggled a ball into the feet of Max Clayton, who managed to adjust his body well before striking a low effort beyond an unsighted Adam Bogdan.
Buoyed by the opener, Crewe then spurned a gilt-edged chance to double their lead.
After Zat Knight had pulled up with what seemed to be a muscle strain, Pogba raced clear of the defence but could only steer his effort a few feet wide of Bogdan's left post.
Knight was immediately replaced by Joe Riley.
Bolton stemmed the Crewe pressure and soon had themselves level.
Following Chung-Yong Lee's corner kick, the referee deemed a Crewe defender to have handled the ball in the ensuing scramble. Cool as ever, Petrov slammed home the resulting kick from 12 yards out to level the scores.
Wanderers' predominant goal threat continued to come from the Bulgarian. Prior to the interval two long range, left-foot pot shots were well saved by Crewe goalkeeper Alan Martin.
Andy Lonergan replaced Bogdan at the break, with the second period a much more timid affair.
Bolton were marginally the better side in the run-up to the hour mark, with the only chance of note falling the way of Michael O'Halloran.
The Scottish youngster, who had been on the field for a matter of minutes, shrugged of the challenge of left-back Gregor Robertson before stabbing an effort from an acute angle marginally wide of the post.
As the half wore on, Wanderers dominated possession but struggled to carve out any real openings with a flurry of substitutions interrupting the flow of the game.
With ten or so minutes remaining, Gregg Wylde, who had earlier replaced Petrov, skipped to the byline before firing a dangerous ball agonisingly across the face of goal.
The only goalmouth action before the full time whistle saw Riley and Andrews both force decent saves from the Crewe goalkeeper from distance, whilst Pogba's attempted chip sailed harmlessly over Lonergan's goal.
Wanderers' focus now turns to Wednesday night's trip to Morecambe.
