Sordell Involved Again For Team GB

Marvin Sordell once again impresses for Team GB, playing the first half in the 3-1 win over UAE

Marvin Sordell once again impressed for Team GB in his 45-minute outing against United Arab Emirates at Wembley on Sunday evening.

The striker led the forward line well for Stuart Pearce's team in the first half, before he was replaced by ex-Wanderers loanee Daniel Sturridge at half time.

One particular noteworthy moment for Sordell was when he forced the UAE goalkeeper into a smart low save after a sharp turn on the edge of the penalty area.

Team GB led 1-0 at the interval through a headed goal from Ryan Giggs, however, they were pegged back on the hour mark when Rashed Eisa powered through the defence and coolly slotted the ball past Jack Butland.

But two goals in the space of four minutes from Scott Sinclair and Sturridge ensured that Team GB earned a 3-1 win - a result that puts them top of Group A after two rounds of matches.

Next up is the third and final group game against Uruguay on Wednesday, where Team GB will be looking for a draw or a win that ensures they reach the quarter-final stage of the Olympics.
