Jay Spearing on why he decided to re-sign for Bolton Wanderers on a permanent basis

On Friday morning, Bolton Wanderers confirmed Jay Spearing's permanent transfer from Liverpool.

The midfielder signed a four-year contract with the club.

He said: "I feel like it has been a long time coming and it has been a long pre-season for myself.

"I've spoke to the manager a couple of times and he wants us to get back to the way we were performing towards the end of last season. With the players the manager has added, we now want to push on and secure a place in the Premier League.

"Last season, when the gaffer came in, things really turned around. He got his style of play right across to the lads and it was great to work with him. I want to be part of what he is building here.

"I feel okay. If there's a chance for me to play against Reading then I'll of course jump at the opportunity. It's entirely up to the manager so far.

"It was a big decision to leave Liverpool. I've got some great moments there and enjoyed every single minute of it. I'll always be a Liverpool fan, but in football terms I feel like the time is right for me to make this move."
