Barnsley reaction: Knight on camera

Club captain offers his thoughts following Wanderers' victory over Barnsley

Zat Knight admitted that the determination shown by the Whites in Thursday's win over Barnsley at Oakwell is something which will stand the team in good stead for the remainder of the campaign.

On an afternoon which marked Tykes manager Danny Wilson's first home game in charge, Wanderers picked up all three points courtesy of Neil Danns' second half strike.

The experienced defender, who made a return to the starting line-up against the South Yorkshire outfit, explained that the gritty performance shown by he and his teammates meant that they were deserving of the win at the final whistle.

"I think we showed resilience," he said. "They had one or two chances in the first half, but as a team I felt we defended very well, especially in the second half.

"With it being their manager’s first game at home, they wanted to stamp their authority and I felt like they did that, but once the game opened up I think we showed our quality.

"We showed that we can scrap it out as well, so hopefully we can take something from this game into Sunday’s match against Leicester."
