Captain speaks exclusively to the official club website following Tuesday's defeat at the hands of Huddersfield Town
Zat Knight believes that Wanderers will have to roll up their sleeves in a bid to get back to winning ways against Doncaster Rovers this weekend.
Wanderers suffered a 1-0 defeat against Huddersfield Town on Tuesday evening, with the Whites’ club captain admitting that the team were lacking a killer instinct against the Terriers.
Speaking following the final whistle at the Reebok Stadium, the 33-year-old admitted that the reverse against Mark Robins’ men was a tough pill to swallow given the team’s form of late.
"I don’t think we deserved to lose against Huddersfield, but it is what it is and this is the type of league that we are in," he said.
"We looked very comfortable in the first half and Huddersfield didn’t really hurt us, but we turned out to be our own worst enemy.
"It was a great strike from their lad which won the game for them, but we had enough chances to kill the game off."
He added: "We had a couple of opportunities but at the end of the game we had a chat in the dressing room and we agreed that we have to be more aggressive in our play.
"We are all hurting because we have had two defeats off the back of a good run in the league, but in the Championship it is all about working hard and not how well you play football.
"We need to start focusing on being more ruthless and if we do that, I have every confidence that we will start picking up points again."
Having returned to the starting line-up against the Terriers, Knight explained that although he was pleased to be involved, ensuring that Wanderers pick up points will always remain his main priority.
"I just want to play football, so I was pleased to be back starting against Huddersfield," he said. "Before the weekend the team had done well, but I have bided my time and I thought personally I had a good game.
"I have been on the bench kicking and heading every ball, so it was good to be out there – obviously the result was disappointing, but I am glad to be back playing from the start.
"Even when I’m not involved though, I always support the lads - we all want the best for the team at the end of the day, so getting results will always be the main thing."
