Midfielder speaks exclusively to the official club website following his return to action
Having been sidelined since February with a knee injury, Mark Davies admitted his delight at pulling on a Wanderers shirt for the first time this season in a behind-closed-doors clash with Rochdale on Wednesday afternoon.
The midfielder, who last featured for the Whites in a 1-0 victory over Peterborough at the start of the year, played 65 minutes against the Spotland outfit alongside fellow midfielder Josh Vela.
Speaking following the game, the 25-year-old explained his relief at finally making his return to action following a nine month absence.
“It’s been a long time coming, but it feels great to be back and involved,” he said. “I’ve been on the sidelines for near enough a year having done my shoulder prior to getting injured in February, so it’s been really frustrating.
“It’s been tough, but everyone has been so fantastic with me during that time – I’ve been so lucky.
“Both the first team lads and the younger ones have been there to keep my spirits up and that’s always important when you pick up an injury like this."
He added: “It’s very hard mentally when you’re injured for such a length of time because you sit there watching the results come in and it’s upsetting that you can’t do anything to help.
“Hopefully though soon enough I’ll be back in the thick of it with the boys helping them to pick up results.”
