Spearing - Lets keep going

Midfielder Jay Spearing is confident Bolton can maintain their recent good run of form against Ipswich Town.

The 24-year-old was on the score sheet for the Whites in their last trip away from the Reebok Stadium, finding the back of the net from 20-yards against Barnsley in a 3-2 win.

Targeting another three points this weekend at Portman Road, Spearing revealed confidence was high in the camp, and is optimistic Bolton can send the travelling support home happy with a sixth straight win in the Championship.

“It is a game which we truly believe we can go on and win,” admitted the number 20. “We are very happy with the run that we are on and hopefully we can keep it going.

“Ipswich are a settled side and they know the way they want to play, the results for them have been going well too. We know it is going to be a difficult game on Saturday but if we can play the way we know we can we are confident about coming out on top.

“We can take positives from our last performance away from home at Barnsley. The supporters were excellent on the day like they always are both at home and away.

“We took our chances very well in the first half but in the second half we conceded two silly goals early on and that is something we believe we can cut out of our game.

“If we can go to Ipswich on Saturday and start the game well and put them under pressure then I can’t see why we can’t come away with three points.

“We have got players who can create chances and have the ability to score goals. It is good to have that all around the park.

“We are capable of keeping clean sheets, which we have done in three of our last four games. Andy Lonergan has come in recently and put in two great performances so the confidence is flying and hopefully we can keep it going.”
