Final plans for the Nat Lofthouse statue revealed in well-attended service at the Reebok
Bolton Wanderers held their annual Service of Remembrance at the Reebok Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Hundreds of people turned out to pay tribute to their loved ones, with the service starting pitchside where chief operating officer Bradley Cooper laid a wreath following a minute’s silence. The service then continued in the Platinum Suite where club chaplain Phil Mason, with support from vice chairman Brett Warburton and HR director Margaret O’Brien, read the biblical lessons.
During the service names of loved ones that have been inscribed in the club’s memorial book or engraved on a memorial stone outside the stadium during the past 12 months were read out.
Details of the Nat Lofthouse Memorial Statue were also confirmed. The statue will be located on the North West corner of the Reebok Stadium.
Club chaplain Phil Mason said: “The annual service was once again very well attended and it was a moving and emotional evening. People came to remember their loved ones and within the service light candles in their memory.
“We were also delighted with the outcome of the final plans for the Nat Lofthouse statue. It certainly provides a very fitting tribute to Nat and all that he still means to Bolton.
“We’re now able to extend the Walkway of Fame, where fans can place memorial bricks in memory of their loved ones or to celebrate other key moments in life.
“We are sure that all those who are giving so generously to the project and all the people who have helped choose the image will be delighted with the whole feel and look of this great scheme.”
Bolton Wanderers would also like to thank Smithills School Senior Brass Band, Chris Wormald, Jeremy Plummer and Hayley Jackson for helping conduct the annual Service of Remembrance.
