Defender pleased with Wanderers' stability of late
Kevin McNaughton praised Wanderers’ recent solidity at the back, claiming that the hard work put in throughout the week at training is finally paying off.
The Whites recorded a second clean sheet in as many away games against Watford last weekend, with the on-loan defender believing that the results of late are merely proof of the team’s determination to succeed.
"I think it’s just the organisational side of things," he said. "We work hard during the week on organising things and it’s proved evident on the pitch.
"It’s been pretty easy to fit in since I arrived to be honest – the two centre halves have been doing well together, so it’s been easy as a full-back coming in when the two guys are performing well.
"Alex Baptiste has gone out on the left too and he was quality there. Against Watford he had a lot of work to do, but I thought he was a different class."
Having recovered from a hamstring injury in order to continue his run of appearances since joining the club on loan in September, the 31-year-old admitted that belief amongst the squad is growing with each passing game.
"We’re just grafting out results really more than anything else – that’s three games away from home that we’ve picked up results now which is really good," he explained. "It’s just good confidence wise as well, so the international break probably came at a bad time for us.
"We were a bit wary going to Watford because they’re a good team, so that’s a great three points there."
He added: "The game was probably the toughest of the three away games we’ve won and that bodes well, because they’ll definitely be up there come the end of the season.
"Obviously that’s where we want to go, and this result was a step closer for us again."
