Freedman - An organised performance

Manager's reaction to the 2-1 victory at St Andrew's

Dougie Freedman believes it was only going to be a matter of time before his side registered their first league win of campaign.

Bolton left the second city with three points after goals from Jermaine Beckford and Neil Danns helped secure a 2-1 victory.

“I thought it was a very well organised performance from start to finish,” Freedman said in his post-match press conference.

“We came here today to a team who are in-form of late and played some fantastic football. We passed and moved the ball well and were very brave in our play.

“The second half was a little different to the first. They put on a big man up top and put us under some pressure.

“We dealt well with their long balls and showed determination and commitment to keep them at bay. They obviously got the one goal from a set piece, but I thought we defended very well today.

“This league win has been coming for some time now. We all know it has been a bit of a frustrating time of late. I think that in our performance today there are certainly signs that we can climb the league table very quickly.

“I’m very happy for the players at this moment because they’ve put in a lot of hard work.

“A number of players have come in and worked very hard. I believe that the Bolton fans deserve these kinds of players.

“If we’re being honest we’d like to go and play a game this Tuesday now. Obviously that isn’t the case with the international break, but make no mistake that these players will be back out working hard on the training ground.

“Our confidence is high right now. We’ll regroup and get one or two players back up to fitness and go again.”
