U18s: Bolton 0-2 Norwich

Youngsters defeated by Eaton-Collins double

Wanderers’ Under 18 side suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Norwich City at Lostock on Saturday morning.

Having been narrowly beaten by a last minute goal from Everton last time out, the club’s young guns entered the clash full of confidence to face a Norwich City side who have experienced an inconsistent start to the season with three draws, three defeats and three victories so far.

Their buoyant mood however was dampened early on in the clash as the Canaries proceeded to take the lead through Jamie Eaton-Collins.

A key player for the Canaries’ youngsters this term, the striker was on the score sheet again shortly after the restart with his fifth goal of the season to condemn the Whites to defeat on home soil.

Speaking after the final whistle, coach David Lee explained that although he was pleased with the overall effort of his side, he was disappointed with their lack of composure in front of goal.

"We started brightly and had plenty of opportunities ourselves to take the lead with Tom Walker, Jamie Thomas and Jamie Hinchcliffe all finding themselves one on one with the keeper, but they just couldn't capitalise," he said.

"Norwich then went and scored against the run of play after an individual mistake which ultimately cost us dearly, and then the second goal was a deflected shot which was cruel on us.

"Overall, it was a hard working performance, but the players need to be ruthless in and around the penalty area as goals change games."
