U18s: Bolton 0-5 Middlesbrough

Youngsters beaten by Boro on home soil

Wanderers' Under 18 side suffered a 5-0 defeat at the hands of their Middlesbrough counterparts at Lostock on Saturday afternoon.

Having fallen behind to an early goal from the visitors, the club's youngsters pushed for a route back into the clash throughout the remainder of the first half with a number of opportunities to pull themselves level going begging.

Their hard work was to be ultimately in vain however as Boro ran riot in the second half, notching another four goals to put the result beyond doubt and condemn the Baby Whites to defeat.

Speaking after the final whistle, coach David Lee admitted that he was bitterly disappointed with the result and had no qualms about the final scoreline.

"The players were not at the races today – there were a number of poor individual performances," he explained. "A lack of game awareness and basic defensive errors were exploited by the opposition."

The club's Under 18 side will be hoping to bounce back and record their first victory of the season in their next fixture away at Everton on Saturday 19 October, kick off 11am.
